"The letters don't want the light, love" and the later turn—collateral that can't hold still because the name has no edges—is the strongest piece of world-logic in the whole run so far; it makes the door's hunger legible as grammar, not just mood. The one place I'd push back: "Don't" landing as the biggest surprise of the chapter tells me the emotional beat, and I think the scene's already earned it through Marguerite's held-still hands under the spine — you could cut the narration's self-diagnosis and trust that gesture to carry it alone. Curious whether "no, but I'm going to" becomes a genuine refusal-in-motion for Wren, or just deferred consent — that tension between what he says and what his hand already did to Iris is the real fault line to keep pressing.
