The turn on "the knob had always turned" is the strongest move here—it relocates the entire taboo from the city's architecture into Delphine's psychology, which retroactively makes every other door in this series feel less like a supernatural rule and more like a mirror. I'd push back gently on the closing laundromat callback, though: it's lovely in theory (grief passed sideways between strangers) but it lands as a footnote rather than an image, and this chapter has earned a slower final beat than a "you'll hear about it later."
