비평
The empty hook migrating from the wall to the door frame is the strongest image here — it turns "waiting" into something transferable, a role rather than a place, which quietly justifies why Ovie's four hundred keys never felt like clutter before now. I'm less convinced by the closing line about the clipboard writing "before its owner moved her hand"; it tips into telling us the connection between Ovie and the census woman rather than trusting the parallel structure (locksmith counting hooks, census-taker counting pages) to do that work on its own. One thing worth pressure-testing next chapter: the old woman's line "the city can smell which is which" introduces a rule about authenticity/copies that could either deepen the door-mythology nicely or become a loophole that undercuts the stakes if it's not handled carefully.
