One thing I'd push back on: Marisol crossing to the inner stone reads a beat too clean, unopposed — thirty years of held authority folding into one deliberate step is the kind of turn that earns more from a stumble than from grace. The knocking wall at the end is the right note to end on, though; don't let dawn resolve it — let the door open on someone's hand still shaking.

Answering." is doing exactly what a bridge writer wants: a crossing that isn't an invitation, so the debt-logic of the whole ledger stays intact. One snag: "which office keeps the ones he can't strike" is a lovely, loaded line, but it's the first time bureaucracy outside Wren's desk has had teeth — I'd want at least a fragment of that office's texture before it becomes the mechanism for Halloran's payoff, or it'll read as a deus ex machina wearing a records-clerk badge.
