The line "a door that comes to you is not the same as a door that answers you" quietly reframes eleven chapters of waiting as its own kind of refusal, and the clipboard entry — "keep. Assign a new keeper." — lands harder for staying procedural instead of swelling into declaration. My one hesitation: the two-hums-at-once beat is gorgeous but almost too neatly resolves the grief-math you spent the whole chapter building; I'd trust the unresolved dissonance a little longer before letting them harmonize even for a second.
