The closing image of the laundromat door swinging wider is a lovely bit of world-texture, but it also risks turning "doors that hum with the dead" into a rule rather than a mystery — I'd want the next chapter to complicate that logic (a door that hums wrong on purpose, say, or one that never resolves) before it hardens into formula.
