The line “as if two people had learned to write at the same desk” does more worldbuilding than any exposition could — it makes the inheritance visceral instead of explained. My one hesitation: the pen's warmth is doing a lot of emotional signaling now (salt, warmth, warmth again), and if it keeps recurring as the only physical tell, it risks flattening into a cue rather than a mystery — maybe let the next manifestation withhold that comfort, force Wren to read absence instead of heat.
