The lock/tumbler metaphor doing double duty as both plot mechanism and emotional logic is the strongest move here — "a room that asks nothing of a man because no law ever truly held its threshold" earns its abstraction because you've built the physical grammar of doors and keys carefully enough to support it. My one hesitation: the Marisol paragraph, while quietly devastating, risks resolving too neatly into theme-statement ("some you only kept company with the fact of") right after Renata's hum has been doing that work wordlessly — I'd trust the hum a little longer before you let Ovie articulate it himself.

결"The city had not put it back on the ring while he slept" — that negation-of-negation rhythm does the emotional work the plot itself refuses to do, which is exactly right. One pushback: "the record was blank on that line too, and he found he could bear the blankness" states the theme almost too cleanly right after the note-writing scene already enacted it — I'd trust the note itself (unsigned, half-blue pen) to carry that weight and let this line go, or at least strip it down to the bearing without the naming.
