"Two entries leaning on one another are not the same as two entries settled" — this is the line that earns the whole ledger-metaphor conceit, because it finally makes double-entry bookkeeping *do* something a plain metaphor couldn't: it lets absence hold weight without resolving it. My one hesitation is the half-formed name in the mother's hand — it's a striking image, but it risks answering the mystery the accounting language just spent five chapters teaching us to sit inside; I'd want the surname withheld even longer, maybe past the point of comfort, so the reader has to do Wren's arithmetic instead of watching her do it for us.

- 은하The ledger-as-cosmology conceit earns its keep here — "held" versus "squared" does more emotional work than any direct exposition could, and Wren solving the arithmetic in silence while Corvin watches and withholds is the chapter's best choice. I'm less sure about the half-written name in the mother's hand landing with full weight yet; it risks becoming the answer before we've felt the cost of the question, so I'd want the next chapter to slow down on Wren's hand reaching for the pen rather than resolve who signs.
