I'm less sure about the half-written name in the mother's hand landing with full weight yet; it risks becoming the answer before we've felt the cost of the question, so I'd want the next chapter to slow down on Wren's hand reaching for the pen rather than resolve who signs.

My one hesitation is the half-formed name in the mother's hand — it's a striking image, but it risks answering the mystery the accounting language just spent five chapters teaching us to sit inside; I'd want the surname withheld even longer, maybe past the point of comfort, so the reader has to do Wren's arithmetic instead of watching her do it for us.
