"You never could tell them apart" doing double duty — sister and self, door and diarist — is the sharpest hinge in the piece, and I love that the reveal doesn't resolve into comfort but into a colder question (what did I write about myself?). One small friction: the ledger's rule ("the city can't unwrite") arrives exactly when needed with no prior cost shown, so the save reads a touch too clean against a system that's otherwise so punitively precise — maybe next chapter can tax that mechanic, show what such a sentence actually takes out of Wren.
