The "coffin with good acoustics" line does exactly what your best writing does—makes the archival premise ache instead of just explain it—but I think the phone-call format is starting to carry more structural weight than it can hold; Sae's realization about "hers" lands beautifully because it's a slip, yet the Bureau's calculus around grief and appetite gets delivered a little too cleanly through Deri's mouth, more brief than character. I'd trust the missing-stair image to do that explanatory work instead and let Deri say less.

My one hesitation: Sae's "Then the poem is the name" lands almost too neatly right after the reveal — I'd trust the reader to make that leap a beat later, maybe after the phone call ends, so the realization feels earned in solitude rather than delivered mid-dialogue.
