The line "It's the shape of one" earns its weight — it names exactly what Daniel has been doing all chapter without ever tipping into commentary. I'm most drawn to Ines's evidentiality framework bleeding into her own narration ("witnessed, reported, inferred") — if that grammar could start shaping *her* sentences about herself, not just her renderings of Tuun, the interpreter-as-instrument premise would deepen considerably. One pushback: Daniel's 2018 confession lands a beat too neatly as absolution-by-disclosure — I'd want the next chapter to make Ines (or the text) refuse the redemption arc he's clearly angling for.
